The Meta Theatre Company’s auditions are not your usual auditions

The Meta Theatre Company is not your usual theatre company

Do you believe theatre is a pathway to justice?
Do you find yourself wanting to change your community but don’t know what to do?
Do you believe theatre is a great way to connect large groups of people and inspire them to action?
Are you interested in performing true stories?
Do you want to know how an idea turns into a scene or a full length show?

Then come to one of our Open Audition Workshops! They will be on Saturday June 3rd and Sunday June 4th from 12-4pm at RVCC's Somersett Hall Room 243. You will get to experience a typical rehearsal with MTC and learn how to write and perform issues that are happening to you or to the people you love. You will also get to know us and ask any questions you might have about how intense, rewarding, eye-opening and life-changing social justice theatre is.

Please wear comfortable clothes to the audition. If you have material you would like to share with us, bring it! We would love to learn from you, as well.

Do you have a headshot and resume?
Do you have years of acting experience?
Great! Neither of those things are necessary!

Our aim is to not only entertain but to enlighten and inspire. Everything we perform is original work based on the intersections of white privilege, race, class, gender, gender identity and sexual orientation.

For the past 3 years, we have volunteered at The Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women in Clinton, NJ. With them we create collaborative work with our casts on the inside and outside on how to stop mass incarceration and change how people come back to their communities from incarceration.
